There is definitely something in the water down at Oakwood Court in Torpoint! Two young people have once again had stories short listed in a county short story writing competition. Rohan has had his work ‘Highly Commended’ while Nikki’s story was placed third.

As if this wasn’t enough, Nikki who was clearly on a role scooped a Gold Medal having won her Badminton game at Bournemouth this weekend. The next stage sees Nikki and her family travelling to Sheffield to take on the next challenge. I hope she has saved some room on her wall for another medal…..watch this space.

Well done to all students and staff at Torpoint who just keep the good news coming!

This was my first time on going on a boat, I put on my life jacket and I listened to the safety talk that we had on the boat before leaving Ilfracombe harbour.

I wasn’t sure what to expect as I had never been on a boat before, we left Ilfracombe harbour and went out to sea and the sea spray came over and got us all wet! We were told that we might see some seals and I was looking out for them. The boat stopped a couple of times and we were given some information about where we had stopped. At the last place we stopped before going back to the harbour we saw some seals. They were laying up on the rocks, we couldn’t get too close as they would get scared and go back in the sea. We then went back to the harbour.

I very much enjoyed this trip and I would like to do this again.

Some people just can’t help but be creative and Nathan is one of those people. With Christmas coming he has turned his hand to making Christmas trees made from driftwood collected locally. The trees come in three different sizes, small, medium and large so there is something to suit everyone.
Nathan isn’t just an artist though! He has a real business head on his shoulders and is selling the trees in the lead up to Christmas so anyone who wants to enhance their home this Christmas or just to give a wonderful gift should contact Nathan via Head Office to put in an order fast.
Well done Nathan for seeing the opportunity in waste wood and make a really beautiful product.
